Anika Noni Rose is an American actress and performer. Most famous is her character Tiana as the Princess, and"the Frog's African-American Princess. She was named an official Disney Legend in 2011. Rose played Lorrell Robinson on the Academy Award-winning movie Dreamgirls. Anika Rose was born on September 6, 1972. She is a famous American actress and singer. She was best known for her performance as Tiana Ariel, the princess of Disney who is her first African American Princess to appear in The Princess and the Frog (2009). Disney named her a Legend in the year 2011. The actress is also known for her performances in the film Lorrell in Dreamgirls which was the Academy Award winning film (2006) and as LaVerne in the Starz's Power. Her other notable roles include her performance in the theatre, particularly for her starring roles as Emmie Thibodeaux, in Caroline or Change, the Broadway show Caroline or Change (2004) where she received the Tony Award for Best Featured actress in a Musical. She also played Beneatha Younger in A Raisin in the Sun, the Broadway adaptation of A Raisin in the Sun (2014) for which she was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play.
