Anika Noni is an American actress and vocalist. She's best known for portraying Tiana the her first African American Princess as Tiana Disney's first African American Princess in The Princess and the Frog. Disney Legends identified the actress as one of their 2011 stars. Rose was in the role of Lorrell Robertson on Dreamgirls and was awarded an Academy Award. Anika Noni Rose (born on the 6th of September 1973) is an American performer and vocalist. The most famous of her roles was her performance as Tiana the Princess from Disney. She is one of the very first African American Princess in The Princess and the Frog (2009). Disney Legends named her as one in 2011. She was also recognized for her performance in Dreamgirls (2006) that earned an Academy Award for Best Picture. On the Starz show Power she played LaVerne Jukebox Ganner. Her performance in the theater are also well-known, including her role as Emmie Thbodeaux from Caroline or Change, a Broadway show Caroline or Change (2004) which won her the Tony Award Best Featured actress in the musical. She was also nominated in an award for the Tony Award Best Featured actor in the play Broadway revival A Raisin in the Sun.
